I left Wells Fargo this year, after doing hard time (it felt almost like being incarcerated in a penitentiary). I now do audit work for middle market companies, some who are business customers of WF.
One thing is for certain, they not only have internal strife, dissatisfaction and a strong undertow of disgruntled employees (this site is one example), they also have a lot of unhappy customers. A lot of the clients I work with also use WF as their bank, and many have provided feedback that things are going downhill at the bank, that they cannot get simple things done through their banker, etc, etc. I just grin and say "I wish you the best." Any executive who tells you that WF customers love the bank is lying to you, because I get unsolicited gripes all the time from their customers about what its like to bank with them (as a business customer or loan customer), they say even small things take forever to get done because the bank is not staffed well. I'm sure all the bankers and middle market relationship managers are stretched thin and worked like dogs.
I've never understood why any customer or business would want to do business with WF?! especially after all the scandals and cr-p, it seems that pretty much any bank in the country would be a better alternative, even a community or regional bank! I wouldn't open an account at WF with $100 bill. They don't have a monopoly or competitive advantage over any other bank.
This bank is underregulated and the regulators haven't done enough to rein it in and clean it up or force it to sell off and size down. I'm so glad I left, but every now and then I get on this site to see that it still is a Schitt Show and it reminds me of how much better it is not working there! My advice, GTFO as soon as you can. Having WF on your resume is not an asset at all, its a liability.
