If one is amongst manager's favorites, then he or she can do almost nothing all day long. Those who do not have such a privilege, they do everything, they do work for themselves and for a few other people.
That terrifies me.
It is a great humiliation, to witness it and not be able to change anything. I worked in several companies where favoritism was also a big issue, but not as big as it is here. I wonder if anything can be done against managers who demotivate most employees in this way?
Wow....this sounds like working for Sprint. Favoritism...clubs...trips to Hawaii... Sad thing is that some people get so complacent that they just show up to work, do the bare minimum and collect a paycheck. Just pretend you care and you'll be fine.
It goes beyond being a manager favorite. You get asked to do something to help somebody else out and that somebody else takes all the credit for all the work and ends up going to Hawaii. If you're not the right gender or race, give up on moving upwards. You're better served taking the the sign on bonus from list from Amazon Microsoft or Facebook. You'll maintain your sanity by finding a very nice small company where you'll be appreciated for the time that you put in,
Or you just do the minimum, grab the pay, go to work, go home.

If you haven't figured it out yet, this place is a big cult with a bunch of small cults in it. Treat it as such and you'll do good. Treat your manager and upline like a cult leader. I had one tell me our main job is to make him look good. Don't question, wear pink, and say the morning chants, wait, I mean value statements, with the proper smile on your face and tear in your eye. Do not question leader. Do not look sad. Be excited, be be excited.
Especially in smra where your mm is most likely a demoted transplant from top 100. They’ve got their favorites in those stores that are 10 minute drives from their old markets. You work in an actual rural store in the middle of nowhere? Get ready to have the highest goals in your market and do your boss’s work for them while they apply to get their a-s transferred out of the dumpster fire.
