This center could close down and nobody would notice. Best I can tell their sole purpose keeps the Morning News and the 1st floor coffee concession/candy bar bs from going bankrupt.
There is no intelligent life at this location and that includes the "techs" all the way up to the 4th level.

Interesting….comment regarding staying on topic. This board is nothing more than a grievance forum for angry company haters. It’s like having a crowd of 6th grade boys meeting after school … kicking dirt, spitting on the ground while they curse about how much they hate their teacher.
The TDM(DMS,5ESS) switches tier 1(at&t craft) is in Charlotte NC not Dallas and the tier 2 is supported by Nokia which hired folks in India and yes they are very clueless. I doubt there is much in savings from an operations stand point moving the support to Nokia in dollars since their taking up time of the central office techs having to repeat each sentence 3-4 times. I believe the scheme is to run the switches into the dirt so they can go to the FCC and get a FINAL sunset of the TDM.

The company does not care one wit about POTS switches. I have seen a 5ESS go into raid failure, which could corrupt all of the customer billing an OE assignments. The ticket got bounced around for days. The "NOC technician" that escalated the ticket was in Hyderabad India. Should one need tier 1 switch support, you are not going to speak to a "unintelligent American employee" asleep at the Dallas NOC. You are going speak to a contractor. So yeah, AT&T has outsourced this function some time ago. AT&T is getting what they pay for.

It seems like the "topic monitor" does not realize that if a center with several hundred people assigned there (normal times, not temporary working from home) is closed there would be quite a few layoffs... Most people can't think farther out than their own nose..

In fact on a few occasions I brought in major processor alarms to test the NOC. Went un-noticed so yes, the NOC is a collective grouping of misfits with no purpose. Stank would be better off offshoring the entire U.S. network to Pakistan. At least they would be awake while the Dallas, U.S. NOC's are asleep and they would work for pennies on the dollar. Offshore now. Besides, giving Pakistan or Indians some work would probably lessen the scam call's we all get from 8am to 5pm.
no need for state side NOC's. Maintenance and monitoring can be done by agreements with contractors.
