From what I can see, if you want to get promoted you have to be careful not to pi-s off anybody who is even one level above you, because people here remember and will be happy to trip you up over a smallest disagreement. That in itself shouldn't be that hard, but then you also need somebody who'll be willing to vouch for you which is much harder to achieve unless you have perfected your brown-nosing capabilities. Basically, promotions here have nothing to do with your hard work, knowledge and experience, and everything to do with who you know and keeping your head down.

Why would you want to get promoted here. I too early on bought into the idea that career progression here was the best thing to do. However once I experienced the battlefield of countless layoffs and reorgs changed my tune. My goal now is to do as little work as possible. Keep my head down and stay out of the line of fire. With my free time I will find other ways to earn money and enjoy my work/life balance.
Getting promoted has very little to do with how much value you can create or increasing the top line. If that is what you are hoping for then look outside the company. Look for an org with higher growth and increasing staffing needs. TR is like threading a needle if you do not fit a profile.

Promotions? I have been with TR 10+ years and I haven't seen any opportunity for promotion. On my team, we only have layoffs and get more work. Everyone is basically just trying to keep their current jobs.

Good thing I have zero interest in being promoted in this company.
It was laways like this. There was a moment where it stopped when they broke down silos and flatted the organization. But new CEO and new reorg came soon and now reverting back and worse than what it was before. You just have to keep nodding your head. They ask you to jump, just say how high.
Don’t forget that Finance is now buddying up on this whole thing to tell us how many dollars can be allocated to onshore promotions. Why pay for 1 onshore promotion when you could get 3 people doing it at the low cost centers, even if they don’t have the work experience?
@OP+1eox3rhj - yup. And if you work for a manager who has pi_sed anyone off, you're scr-wed as well. Promotions have always been clique-driven.
