Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

When we be allowed to fill open positions?

The employee turnover in my group has been insane the past 18 months. Yet when you look at our org chart, it's a bunch of empty boxes. We cannot get the OK to actively recruit and make offers, though we are always posting job listings as if we are, in fact, recruiting.

The net effect is so much work on those of us that remain. What gives?

Honestly it probably depends on the department, but in my department we have lots of openings, and they are interviewing all the time. What I heard is that 1) there arent enough recruiters to help sift through resumes and get strong candidates to the hiring manager and 2) there is more pressure on the hiring manager to source their own candidates /do the screening.

Then there is timing - with Christmas holiday and year end deliverables - managers are just trying to wrap up the year, not necessarily dive deep into recruiting the last few weeks of December. So hiring slows down this time of year too....

This is our opportunity to save on salaries and severance pay and move job out. This is a dream come true! South America or Poland how about Asia?

Probably waiting to hire visa workers for cheaper is my guess under the disguise of "we didn't find candidates" or "talent shortage"...
