Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Is AT&T the most dysfunctional company to ever exist?

No doubt about it.

Keep a low profile….take their OT money as long as possible! 🍼 max out your 401k & wait for a VSB offer! That’s what I & others did. I was debt free and ready to go when the offer came.

No, I don’t agree. But its safe to say that your routine comments put you in the category of a world class sniveller also known as a crybaby.

They aren't much different than other companies of this size. From the top level everything is peachy. At the bottom, everyone thinks everything is bust. As long as the investors are happy, everyone should be happy.

Agreed, the most incompetent executives and BOD. All should be replaced, the sooner, the better.

Imagine how many layoffs they could do if they were competent and efficient as a business!

Hard to say if it's the most dysfunctional, but it's certain that if the people at the top of AT&T (really SBC in disguise) were running any kind of business without a huge guaranteed revenue stream, which is what their spectrum licenses and right of ways give them, their company have collapsed under the weight of their arrogance and stupidity years ago.

the truth hurts and the sad thing is no one at the company will admit it so to fix a problem you have to recognize but it looks like they bath in dysfunction.

it is a very mis-managed company.

When I think about how much Stankey and Stephenson have cost this company, there is no way in he-l I would worry about the efficiency of my crew. AT&T spent a stupid amount doing time and motion studies. Much better money would have been spent to determine if those in the C suite were even slightly competent. Would not take take much to smoke out the ones that don't produce value. Remember when Elliot Management bought enough shares in AT&T? We got Bill Marrow who said unequivocally that AT&T was management "top heavy". Today, we still have 9 layers of "management". Not much has changed.

I did.
Retired at 56 with well into 7 figures between the pension and 401K.
That was after being a top craft outside tech for 38 years.
I'm now 61 and still living large-and even better when I get SS.
You sound jealous.

Try to run them out of $$$$.

Your total lifetime comp is a rounding error at the VP level. What will actually happen to folks attempting this strategy is they will burn away the productive years of your life and then toss you aside. So, go for it.

I agree, dysfunctional is an understatement.

Dysfunctional starts with whiners like you. Don't like the company? Leave, no one is keeping you there.

Incidentally, this is a site to report impending layoffs, it's not a complaint board. Would be great if you got booted.

A most dysfunctional company that pays a lot of workers and investors. Disgruntle much?

Why do you care? They don't.
You are the buzzing of a midnight fly to them.
Are you getting paid?
I assume you are, but it's not because they value your opinion.
So lay low, be in the middle of the metrics so when they turn the glass upside down you'll still be in the middle.
The old guard was good at surviving.
You newer folks could have learned a lot.
Wink, nod.
Smile, wave.
They make all the rules. Use them to your advantage and profit.
STFU and be smart enough to be stupid.
Try to run them out of $$$$.
