Because, hard work is not valued here at all. It is much more important to pretend to be busy!
This advice, however, applies only to those who are new here. For those who have made a mistake and thought that they would achieve something through hard work, this does not apply. They may just get even more work or end up on the layoff list. My two cents.
The mistake was going extra mile, I think that was the original point. One does not advance at AIG through getting things done. Most political company I’ve ever worked for.
I’ve told my manager please feel free to RIF me if he is forced to cut headcount. That sums up the culture at AIG pretty well.
