I believe that a lot has been written about this already, but I wonder if anyone has any wise tips on how to effectively manage a heavy workload without much stress? What is the solution, how do I finish so much work without ending up in a burnout at the end of the day? I’m starting to hate my life because I can’t quit yet, and the work is so much that I wonder how long it will take someone to finish it all after I finally get out of here.

I used up all my PTO vacation time in the first part of the year trying to keep up with the volume in claims and now can’t take any time off during the holidays . I’m still working 55 plus hours a week trying to keep up for nothing . I’ve taken time off for stress and a near mental breakdown and it’s not worth it. I’ve been here 5 years in claims and I’m about ready to walk out .
Work your hours, and just do what you can. It’s their problem. If they make it yours, get a lawyer.
It’s not humanly possible. They want machines to do it anyway and they think if you can’t keep up like a machine just quit. They will replace you with someone from India or a temp American worker. They will hire people as bandaids but they won’t last and will leave also. It’s so over due for a Union here. That will never happen of course, so the only thing you can do is work 8 hours a day and shut off your computer. They have created this problem and it’s widespread. You are 1 person and cannot sustain doing the work of 4. Let India take over. That’s their plan anyway. After the new year, you will see management on the phones more as the exodus continues. By end of 1st quarter the place will be sold or India will take over and there will be mass US layoffs. That’s all most are waiting for. It’s not going to turn around to a good company for the workers in the states. A whole year has passed since they laid off thousands and this is what they call transformative growth. Transform the employees into machines and watch them burn out. No video presentation on how to be happy is going to fix this. They will give out crumbs and many thank yous and that may sustain the employees for awhile as they think it will get better. What a mockery of customer service this company has become. Don’t let it destroy you. Work 8 hours and go home ….or to the next room in most cases.
Stop caring and do what you can in an 8 hour work day, unless you are getting paid OT.
Document everything.
If that isn't enough to keep up, that isn't your fault and if they fire you, you would have a pretty strong case for wrongful termination or at the very least unemployment due to unrealistic expectations placed on you by Allstate.
