Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Good managers are a thing of the past

If I decide to quit even without having a job lined up it'll be because of my manager. I used to have an amazing manager who decided to leave for a better offer a year ago. She was replaced by a guy who is the exact opposite. He not only has no issues with throwing people under the bus, but he seems to relish it. Bonus points if he manages to ruin their reputation in the process. How does a person like that even get into a position where they are managing people? I went from enjoying my work to dreading it within a month because of him.

I did the exact same thing a year ago. I tried to make it work but in the end, I just couldn’t do it. My manager wasn’t qualified for the job. I would have needed to make myself smaller to survive with this individual. It wasn’t worth my self worth, so I left. No job to go to. I just left. No regrets.

What do you expect in AIG?

Agreed, I lost the manager that hired me due to layoffs, and got stuck with the absolute worst “temporary” manager. It’s better to leave, rather than work for someone like that.
