Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

I'm still counting on severance

People seem to enjoy causing panic and imagining the worst case scenarios, like the one that we shouldn’t count on severance pay. Is the intention behind it just to scare people? The rumors like that are circulating, but it is not at all clear to me what are the arguments for such thinking?

Got my severance. Played their game. Got my money. Got a new job that pays way more, and is on Fortunes top 100 places to work. Something Fiserv didn’t get. Frank forgot to buy the award because he was/is too focused on running the company into the ground.

Count on whatever you want I guess.
Me, I'd rather count on being happy in a job I enjoy.

Severance is a way to prevent lawsuits and publicity, so I expect Frankserv to continue it. The only question is how generous it will be compared to now or 2 years ago.

Do you have an end date yet? Have you discussed leaving with your manager and talked about dates associated with that plan? If not, don't assume the worst (no bye-bye money), but also, don't feel like you have to sit back and wait to spoonfed information. Ask questions!
