Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

The great people keep leaving and the dullards are making decisions

Another reorg/reformulation 15 months later? Why, yes! And who is left to pull it together and make the decisions? The terrible left-overs. Sr Dirs who are so removed from the work, don't understand how anything gets done, are so worried about appearances, and only care about themselves. Top-down dysfunction all the way.

What a shame. The true treasures are leaving and have left.
One can only think that this is also by design.

Missing the good old days when Nike tried to hire the cream of the crop, worked to keep them, and trusted them to do their jobs.

@2hii you asked if Nike cares. When I quit last year I was told I’d receive an exit survey in the mail. I never received anything. Too bad because I had plenty of thoughtful feedback explaining why an above-average employee decided it was time to abandon ship.

To answer your question no, I don’t think Nike cares. As long as senior “leadership” continues to enjoy their high six and seven figure looting of Nike’s profits that is the only thing that matters.

I hope every shareholder continues to pressure Nike to tone down executive compensation. Now that I’m gone I may even propose the next shareholder initiative to cap total annual executive compensation at no more than 100x what the lowest paid full-time employee makes. I’d love to see Nike “leadership” explain to the unwashed masses how that would be grossly unfair. Something tells me it would be a PR disaster for them. But that’s precisely what is needed to shine a bright light on these shameless thieves so richly compensating themselves. It’s an ethical and moral outrage. Then again anyone who has worked at Nike for any amount of time understands that ethics and morality at Nike are HIGHLY contextual and fluid.

I've heard that usual attrition rate is 3% and now its about 13%. That's a huge jump.

I’m curious to know what the current turnover rate is. I’ve been here longer than most and in previous years I don’t ever recall seeing so many people quit. I personally know almost a dozen people who have left in the last year. Good people too. I wonder if Nike cares?

@1tmf Sadly, yes. And that seems like it is leaving a circus of the incompetent behind.

jd said publically that he is used to managing out 75% (lay off or fired) of the workforce within 3 years. his leadership model is to constantly weed out the bottom 1/3 performers and have constant churn to keep people on their toes
