Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Management is out of touch and unsupportive

I feel like they're working against me instead of with me. I realized years ago that hard work won't protect me from layoffs - I saw many good employees be let go while some of the worst stayed - but at least I thought it would make sure I make some career progress while still here. Sadly, as long as managers continue to sabotage anybody they see as a potential threat, that's not happening. Leaving is the best option at this point.

Company culture starts at the top and trickles down. Yes, it is possible to have an isolated example of a bad manager in a good company. At AIG you have isolated good managers at a bad company.

When the people at the top care so little about the average worker it is virtually impossible for any manager to make much of a difference.
