Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Childcare

Anyone having issues securing childcare? Had an after school program 2 days a week, and daughter rides her bike home the other 2 days since I’ve been WFH (but she wouldn’t be able to do that when I RTO- too young to be home alone). The after school programs around here still have waitlists and not enough coverage to accept more kids (something I’ve heard that many have expressed that they’re faced with, but the bank ignores the valid concern/issue). The banks childcare assistance can’t even find available childcare in my budget, that could pick up from a school, and in my area (pointless to have even called them).. they offered to cover costs, BUT WHAT GOOD IS THAT IF THERE’S NOTHING AVAILABLE STILL!?!

Leadership said childcare isn’t an acceptable reason to request a continued WFH schedule or flexibility. So, I guess they don’t care if working parents lose their job - this is a major dilemma and I can’t believe I’m in this position with zero options. Wow!

Yes! And already nervous about summer! They usually offer 10 weeks of camps… checked the site yesterday for registration and there’s only a 5 week program being offered this summer!! What are we supposed to do? This is crazy. The president can tell us it’s ok to RTO all day long, but someone is failing to acknowledge that camps, daycares, after school programs, etc are not equipped to take our kids back!

I have the same issue as a working father. I guess will see how valued I am based on how accommodating they are. Wait list for before and after care is insane and not likely to resolve this school year....then new problems with summer camps.

Bring this up confidentially with Working Mother and other organizations that tout the bank is great for working mothers.
