Vaccine requirement on job descriptions ... Is it hard to receive an exemption?

"At Ford, the health and safety of our employees is our top priority. Vaccination has been shown to play a significant role in combating COVID-19. As a result, Ford has made the decision to require U.S. salaried employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, unless employees require an accommodation for religious or medical reasons. Being fully vaccinated means that an individual is at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. As a condition of employment, newly hired employees will be required to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination or an approved medical or religious exemption."

At the plant I am at they are giving away religious exemptions like candy. Most medical exemptions are getting denied since they don't meet the "government" requirement.

Since when is a medical assessment a one size fits all approach.

With all the side effects listed on the recently released Pfizer documents I think Ford is screwed. Here's the document. Page 30-38 is a list of all the adverse effects.

@1hqn+1fETAxcy Well, we know the answer to that. A glance at this forum shows you countless examples of incompetence on the part of Ford leadership.

Agree - if someone hasn't got the vaccine by now at this point, they aren't likely going to get it now. Why make them go through any hassle at all, even to file an accommodation, if they have the skills Ford needs at the moment to realize our plans? Seems counter productive at best, a big turn off at worst...

Which begs the question - why would Fortune 50 company have such a poorly worded document?

Or a better question - since we are so desperate for hiring top talent in the same areas everyone is at the moment (software engineers and electrical/battery/av engineers), why are we making this requirement for any new hires at all? Does anyone think if a great new prospective employee haven't got the vax at this point, they are suddenly going to get it now just to work at Ford (when we are already under paying what talent can get elsewhere, that does not require the vax)?? Seriously???

@1ayx+1fETAxcy I think this is worded poorly. What I think they mean is either you present proof of vaccination OR (apply for and receive) an exemption. So I assume you could apply for an exemption with Ford HR during the on-boarding process, and would be considered cleared for hire should you get the exemption approved.

"As a condition of employment, newly hired employees will be required to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination or an approved medical or religious exemption."

Confused - if you had prior experience working for a company or went to a school that did not have the mandate, how would someone new to the company provide proof of an approved medical or religious exemption? Are they trying to scare away people from working at Ford?? I really don't understand this logic at all.....

@qsb+1fETAxcy I wouldn't want to work for a delusional bigot who thinks they are morally superior for consuming an experimental product. We have heard enough of your nonsense. Your narrative of your assumed moral superiority is crumbling; you won't enjoy your position of false privilege much longer.

Good. I wouldn't hire anyone that refuses to be vaccinated. And who really wants to work for that awful company now anyway? What they did to the retirees is reason enough for me not to work there.

We at Ford have no idea if these vaccines play a significant role against Covid going forward. Especially since a large share of our employees and the outside community had the Omicron variant. Since we can't respond to new information quickly, we are keeping the mandates.

Saw that train coming from a mile away. I think they just should charge you $500 extra a month and let you decide.

Easy. Just tell them you are religiously opposed.

Why you would want to work here is the real question.
