Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

BofA is best at ignoring issues

It is more or less true for other banks where I worked as well, that superiors ignore all the issues that employees face in the work process. Yet here it is much more present.
I think some projects go awry just because of that. It's frustrating. I don't know the reason for ignoring issues, except that there are people in higher positions who are lacking competencies.

Yes, that is my experience too in GTO. Incompetent tech managers. Too many people in tech with titles and high pay concentrating on the administration because they can not do actual tech work. 70% of each project are people I doubt understand any of the actual systems - “managing” and fighting for credit and visibility. Also - nepotism is prevalent - you can get away with refusing work or lacking the skills for the position you occupy if you are friends or relatives. Flattening the management layer might do some good. Project managers, scrum masters, application managers, architects, etc. - people that don’t do any actual tech work or know the system/technology in their own team. And yet - in high pay bands or promotions almost every year. Product owners that can not write epics if their life depends on it. Scrum masters also see themselves as managers and many cant’t follow most of the conversations let alone resolve any roadblocks. No knowledge of anything really - systems or business. People are engaging in all sorts of tricks and conflicts with each other to avoid actual work. I often wonder if it will cost the less effort if they did the work. Returning to the office will not help - you will loose the few that actually do the work.
