It is enough to spend only half a year here (or even less), to completely lose the sense of fulfillment and enjoyment in life. Even if I was paid more and they gave me better benefits, I would still quit.
This place is exhausting. I believe that there isn't anyone whose quality of life is not completely degraded by working at UP.

Exactly! The people in Omaha want you to feel a sense of privilege to be able to work for the UP. I never saw employment at the UP as a privilege. I saw it as a job, and only as a job. They can hype up the image of the company all they want. I don't know if the worst employer title means anything or not, but at this point it doesn't matter. If the company wants to make the image of UP better, then they need to start with the problems that have been told about many times already.
Damn OP, you nailed it. Most thoughtful, well articulated post I’ve read on this website.
@1mdl Sometimes cult like? No, it’s definitely a cult. I’ll take some more kool-aid Mr. Jones.
Well, worst employer for years in a row means something. I can’t speak for the ops folks, but working for corporate in Omaha can be drag on your life, I fully agree. A bunch of nit picking kool aid beer bongers expect everyone to be as jacked about UP as they are. It’s sometimes cult like, plus Omaha is cold and expensive, might as well rename the state to New Jersey. Y’all are better off moving to the south.
Sure be nice if we got a damn raise! Makes morale low as he-l same pay last 3 years.
Nailed it! I have to take antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications just to make it through my day. Beth’s “coffee with friends” recommendation didn’t work.
