Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Sinking ship

With the high cost of gas and inflation yet they want to cut hours in already understaffed departments and cut part time associates down to 4hr shifts but the clubs are busier than they've ever been. Way to take care of your associates when they need the money and hours the most. Greed. C'mon man how do you expect to keep people $15-17 hr was a lot of money 2 years ago but not anymore it's hard to even hire anyone who's decent and even willing to work for that now plus oh yeah I can only give you 20 hours or 37 1/2 if you want the job. Whether the job is done or not everyone drop what you are doing and run to the clock. Way to back the leads into a corner when the departments and areas fall behind and they scramble to pick up the pieces but cannot plug all the holes then management is in a rush to hold them accountable. Just a terrible direction it seems at least our market is headed. Seems like a backdoor way to force voluntary layoffs.

The pain will only get worse for 3 more years. Oil affects every aspect of a business from producing plastic to getting food on the table. Now the price of wheat is obscenely high and getting worse. More payroll cuts coming. They will eventually go to a skeleton crew and 32 hours max full time. Guaranteed

all of the clubs in our market are printing money right now. you can barely navigate through fresh for all of the customers. at the end of saturday & sunday these clubs are shot.
people burst their humps to keep them zoned through the day. the am & pm crews work hard to get them restocked. fresh teams are being pushed to exhaustion just to hold their areas to look presentable. and here comes direction to slash hours. terrible decisions & p!$$ poor leadership from bentonville.
cutting hours doesn't benefit the members or club level associates. like every decision out of home office, the only ones to benefit are those that work out of corporate headquarters. greedy slimeballs.
a business professor told our class that if you want to grow your business by 10-15% each year, staff it for that growth. If not, you won't get there.
Walmart was doing that at the turn of the century. The company exploded & were opening stores everywhere.
Then they started cutting full time hires, eliminating jobs, slashing hours, & running off long term experienced associates. All of those things impacted customer service.
As a result, growth became stagnant & some stores/clubs closed.
But hey, all the clowns in bentonville fattened their already big bank accounts & that's all that matters to them.

It would be impossible for us to cut hours. We’re so short staffed. 😂

But my club got a budget increase and a larger headcount. That depends on your sales and last fiscal year to if that happened. If you had a remodel or anything like that then they will cut your hours as construction lowers your volume because people will shop less.

Full timers are scheduled 30 hours a week next two weeks at my club. Must have used all the payroll on re stacking stuff on red pallets the last few weeks 🤣

They'll use any excuse to cut payroll. Next they will blame Putin when it all falls on the frail shoulders of Biden. First a pandemic lockdown. Now an inflation lockdown.
