Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

EMCC folks, is the grass greener at competitors?

EMCC, soon to be WETF we're gonna be called folks:

Take a look at the amount of activity on our board, then check out our competitors:

https://www.thelayoff.com/dow-chemical?sort=active
https://www.thelayoff.com/basf?sort=active
https://www.thelayoff.com/lyondellbasell-industries?sort=active

Conclusions:

  1. it is miserable here @ EMCC
  2. people at competitors are either happy or don't yet know about layoff.com

there is no such thing as perfect company...but they are definitely company which is better than EM..at the end, it is each individual to decide why they would like to get away from EM...work life balance...more salary...away from the toxic culture...don't want to be part of the ranking system...bad managers or supervisor...move closer to family etc...

You could work at emcc or take a 20 - 30% pay cut to work for a chemical company that is not connected to a big oil major… take your pick…

Agree with OP. I’m miserable too.
Think I’ll walk off my steady job today.

@OP don’t get too excited. With 60,000 employees and the same 18 people constantly posting negative cryptic messages each day, the %ages aren’t so bad here…
That said, there are a lot of shty things that have happened to a lot of us in industry, but it’s been a bo-m/bust industry for decades and with public pressure and media shaming, we all face challenges. Oddly, people still like A/C, heat, light and driving cars and of course plastics. Don’t hate the players, hate the game.
