Voluntary Severance

Does anyone know what is involved with asking to be severed? Besides, actually asking your manager, who has to take it to leadership for approval. Would this mean that my position would be classified as "job elimination" and my manager couldn't hire anyone else? I am thinking I would be declined because it just seems too easy. If it somehow got out then everyone would be asking for it. I certainly couldn't tell anyone but there never seem to be any secrets at BAC.

Get in line! The queue is miles long by now. You're about 3-4 years too late!

With so many resignations/retirements, management has no reason whatsoever to pay anyone to leave. They're sitting pretty watching their expense drop every day without having to pay anyone to leave.

That said, your only recourse (for now) is to let your manager know that should the opportunity arise, you would not object. (be careful though, this could cause them to make your life h*ll to forcce you out.)

I've never known a company to honor this request except when they've asked for volunteers. Otherwise they'd have people lining up to jump ship on their own terms, and that's not a way to run a stable business.
