We used to be big swinging di-ks that owned the room and now we don’t even know our own products. There are still some good ones here, but we have been neutered by management and the weight of the entire product line.

SE role will be moved offshore, to India to be precise.
Sending email updates, calling customer to confirm their order is on the way, updating/checking licensing issues for customer, blah blah blah..... all can be done by a high school graduate (even a dropout can do it). In the US, the pay would be $16/hour, in India, the equivalent would be $2.5/hour.
The SE's job in 2022 is to chase licensing issues and TAC escalations for customers.
