It's been a while since I was last here. Four years, to be precise. I was laid off during the IT bloodbath of 2018. What happened after that? Has everything been outsourced or are there still at least a few people left? I've read a few posts and I see most of the things are still the same, so I'm probably lucky to be out.

A lot of devs got big pay bumps last year (20-30%), but responsibilities and expectations have increased. Honestly, it put the golden handcuffs back in place for me.
who is downvoting me for saying that developers are underpaid? i was being paid 85k and am joining next week a tech company paying 200k. it is a fact that the company is not paying enough to retain talent.

Since 2010, my career has an itinerant way of life, i.e. a few years here training H1-B, a few year there training another H1-B.
OPT and H1-B visa workers are taking over most of the jobs.
In software dev, it is one country.
In math and statistics, it is another very large country.
There are always 2 scenarios at work:
(1) They either force me to give up what I know, and transfer to their collective, or
(2) I would be push out
Sometimes it is in a sequence of (1), then (2).
Sharing, teamwork, then personal attacks and smearing of characters. They are monsters to American, but companies love them.

Product Management and the "resources", 3rd parties and people involved and decisions are not as up and up as they clout. Weird dynamics and lotsa of hidden agendas. People paid way too much for what they really do.

Same as always, a lot of money being spent for very little in return. Need to outsource the whole department.
Things are great. Actually delivering and advancing from waterfall to product management. Able to attract new and relevent skills. You would not recognize it.
