Yes, there are many ways to learn and develop skills. I know many are not happy here but there also many who develop skills and grow.

I've been here for 27 years and I am still happy.

Definitely. Wells has some issues, but it would work fine for one starting out in the job world.

I think the answer for me is "it depends." If my child were talented enough out of college to score a high-paying job at Wells I would probably encourage them to seek other opportunities with companies that truly invest in their people and look great on a resume.

OTOH, if my kid were a middle-of-the-road or worse performer I might suggest just how far one could climb here with basic Microsoft Office and a quick cert's worth of coding knowledge. The competition just lies down in a lot of cases, and showing up truly is a large part of the battle.
Get in, build knowledge, connections, and real world experience, and move on.

All that said, if they were somehow proficient in the ancient programming languages that make our financial systems run I'd tell them to hitch their wagon to this money train while the ride lasts.

I would recommend Burger King before I would recommend the most corrupt, insane company in the world.

@efg - A lot of this has changed and isn’t nearly as good as you make it sound. 401k match rules just changed, severance will not happen, they change jobs constantly in the name of remapping, and reduce pay significantly with no recourse.

Everyone, employees and customers alike, should stay the fu-k away from this place!

A friend's child just graduated in finance. He heard from his college buddies looking for first jobs that WF culture is toxic, so he never sought employment at WF. Let that sink in.

If they want to make wells a better company, absolutely. If they want to coast and take after one of their parents who wonder if it’s a good place to get by, then no.

Yes. They have better benefits than most companies in the US. 401k match up to 6%, decent insurance, 13 paid holidays + 18 days of PTO your first year, 10 days bereavement, 16 weeks fully paid parental leave. The raises suck, but the starting pay isn’t bad. They also offer 2 weeks severance per year worked with a minimum of 8 weeks. Most big corporations are evil. If you’ve gotta work for one of them, there are definitely worse ones to work for.
