The announcement of JA as new Head of Global Exploration was a missed opportunity to shake things up, like DW has done with the CFO, Investor Relations, and most recently with Low-Carbs Greenwashing Solutions.
Geoscience has been decimated and the elevation of a ladder climber to perpetuate the status quo is another nail in the coffin.
After the costly blunders and wasteful tenure of MGC, it’s hard to imagine more of the same is what’s needed.
But there we go: shuffling the chairs in the Titanic after the lifeboats have left.

Problem with MGC is lack of humility….Brazil bet was a huge blunder…and the way he and others keep talking about it makes me wonder whether they’ve all lost a sense of reality. Non-Geo execs have lost faith in Exploration leadership…that’s why even JA reports to an Engr. SVP…which is another story.
Our top level execs don’t believe in Exploration anymore…very poor track record. Guyana is a fluke….and will be difficult to replicate unless there is a fundamental shift.
JA is not the worst choice that could have been made.
Cautious. A survivor. A political navigator of the system. Little chance of him projecting drive, energy, & direction to a kneecapped “exploration” organization.
