In the office you’ve got a shorter career for most positions. Especially if they use specialized equipment - scanners, special printers, etc. Admins are already reducing due to admin pooling. Lots of other jobs are being offloaded to vendors for the office work because they can get away with paying less. If it requires physical labor, there’s a good chance it will be third party or AI replaced very soon. 10 years or less for those. There’s even whole layers of mgmt up for replacement due to automated solutions. Working in an office isn’t going to save your job at all. Even customer facing jobs are being halved. Offices are no more a safe space than at home. There a small percentage of you guys that assume because you have to go to an office it means you’re safe - and it’s a total misunderstanding on your part.
Why does it mean, if you WFH your job can also be done and is at risk of outsourcing to India? Tons of jobs done in the office have gone to India. You can't outsource brain power and that doesn't matter if you are in the office or at home.
100% of my job can be done at home. If they sell the office, that takes care of the useless CPG people someone else mentioned. Janitors/cleaners will adapt. They can come clean my house and I will pay for it with the money I save on not paying for parking and commuting. I’ll tip well or pay extra just to try and offset costs for them. Why not? During covid I tipped people packing my to go orders and tipped extra bc they were losing business. Seems like the right thing to do.
For all you people thinking the urban areas are trash, you should get behind this plan because it unravels the money train to the cities from corporations. Without us commuting to the “he-l holes/riot centers/crime wave/dem havens,” their cashflow dries up and there’s less money for their budgets. Instead, you are all shaking in your boots that they’ll offshore so you push RTO.

37% of all jobs. Meaning the reason why it’s so low is because some jobs like drivers, deliveries, food service, farming, plumbers, electricians, and other service jobs which make up a large percentage of total available jobs still have to be done in person - for now.
As for our company - nearly all of it could be done remotely. Well over 75% anyway, not counting branch jobs and jobs done by vendors like CPG movers, building security, janitorial, and food service.
Are you sure? This site seems to think it's 100% of jobs can WFH
That number will increase substantially in a decade or less.
