Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

No incentive to make things better

There is very little incentive to try and make things better. No raises, cost of living adjustments, company holiday parties, etc. The only constant is the threat of being laid off so some executive can look like they are doing a good job and get paid more for it. Even though in reality they are doing next to nothing.

@pno+1fTOsMpD tells it like it is.

Waiting for your share of the 2% budget? Good Luck.

L&R makes money. GI is the dog of the company. That's why things are about to get ugly in GI when it has to stand alone.

Individual Life & Retirement has been handing out promotions, bonuses, and raises for the last 10 months. It’s biz as usual over there.

There is a whole other world of secret pay and promos for friends. Experience, talent and ability are not required, just be friends with the right manager or executive and you are "made".

The rest of you can wait.

In my unit we have secret job title changes for some employees that are clearly promotions. The promotions don’t officially exist, there’s nothing you can specifically do to earn them, they’re never posted, and it’s also not announced.

Our boss has also claimed not to know what their own employee’s job titles are. You might say: what could I do to get up to the next level like so and so employee? Our boss would say: I don’t even know what you’re talking about. I didn’t know so and so employee had that job title!

Is that even possible? No! And yet, you actually have to sit there and pretend that it’s even the tiniest bit plausible that your boss does not know their own employees’ job titles. How else do you get through the day?

Just typing this out makes me feel so stupid and pathetic, which is exactly how my boss wants me to feel.

They are just stalling… no raises will come out of that separation for the common workers; If they do, I’d be pleasantly surprised.

PZ said no raises until L&R separates. Today he said that may happen sometimes in Q2 if all goes well. I agree, no one says a word about it, but I think we can deduce that there will either be no raises this year or they will not happen until end of Q2 or Q3.

But then what happens next year? You know AIG will not give raises in Q3 and give them again in Q1 of 2023 so long-term AIG will avoid at least several months to a year of paying staff fair wages.

I just hope PZ can make it on his $20,000,000 a year. I would hate to see him struggle.

They seriously have been very hush hush about raises.. no one is bringing it up / many are too scared to ask. I was assuming before April we’d hear something but looks like nothing.. only PZ talking about selling L&R 24/7.

There's a 3 step process to working at AIG.

Step 1 - Keep your head down and always say "yes, that's a great idea".
Step 2 - Do as little as possible to collect your check.
Step 3 - Continually send out resumes and look for another opportunity.

If you are lucky the whole place will be a bad memory very soon.
