Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Everything more valued than merit

When I see who is getting promoted, it is both frustrating and depressing.
Why do I have a feeling that everything here plays a greater role than merit?
Why wouldn’t PepsiCo finally start promoting people who actually deserve it?
What does that say to the rest of us who can't get a promotion even though we try twice as hard as those who get it?

This company is really starting to get on my nerves.

The company has been nothing but a dog and pony show since the bigger company took over in 2009. They would rather higher an unqualified degree toting candidate to check the diversity box than retain someone with years of knowledge, experience & dedication. It's two fold:. the diversity hire looks good for statistics and cutting the experienced, knowledgeable and dedicated employee saves them a cr*p ton of $$$ on retirement. Win, win.

A lot of true words spoken in the replies to this post. Pay very close attention...they know what they speak of. So sad to watch it crumble with friends still left inside.

You better be a college hire or fit a demographic they publicized promoting or your chances are reduced for promotion. You may get to train your new boss though.

At PepsiCo, it's not what you can do, it's 1) what you are, and 2) who you know.

The fact that there are diversity scorecards for executives tells you all you need to know. The reason leaders discriminate and promote racial and gender preference is because they check-the-box on a key metric tied to the executive's compensation.

It's pretty pathetic and very pronounced in the support functions not tied to revenue.

You are applying practical logic to a woke company that has absolutely no interest in pleasing anyone that does not bolster their public image. I’ve been in the labor force for nearly 45 years and I’ve never worked for a more ruthless bunch of tightwads than the cabal of clowns that runs this toxic dump. This is company that beats its bloated chest about equity - yet urinates on their front line. Thank the lord I’m very close to retirement and bailing soon. I pity anyone who has or plans to make a career here. You’d get more loyalty out of a temp agency than these id--ts.

Hmm. I stopped drinking Woke Coke.

Now it sounds like Pepsi is just as woke.
