Getting NSI is easy, just make your Sponsored Manager look bad to his boss.

The Sponsor will PIP you because Sponsors look bad if it becomes apparent that they are sponsoring an id--t.

This is how id--ts can be promoted so high, because the Sponsor never admits that his chosen one is incompetent. I have seen major cover ups in this regard.

If you announce your retirement date before the annual ranking meetings, you will automatically be put in the NSI bucket to save someone else from being forced into the NSI bucket.

In 2020 and 2021, V.P.'s with HR endorsement put their employees that had formally announced their retirement in the NSI bucket during the ranking meetings to avoid further headcount reduction in their global business units.

You don’t get into NSI. NSI comes looking for you.

Option 1: Do anything productive, innovative, creative, that your sycophantic supervisor doesn’t know anything about.
Option 2: identify a gap that your group should address, and make progress on closing it without the supervisors knowledge or consent.
Then present your initiative and results to that supervisors line management without their knowledge or consent.

Guaranteed NSI for failure to be a team player. I’m speaking from personal experience. Nobody left in the organization values doing the right thing for the right reasons any more.

Present the "brutal truths" to you manager and your manager's manager. This is one sure fire way to be immediately flagged as a person who is not a "cultural fit".

Every ExxonMobil manager that is moving up the rating and ranking and promotion ladder only wants to hear about the things that make them look good. This allows them to claim, "Plausible Deniability" when they see that "the sky is falling."

Plausible deniability is the ability of managers in a formal or informal chain of command, to deny knowledge of or responsibility for any actions committed by members of their organizational hierarchy. They may do so because of a lack or absence of evidence that can confirm their participation, even if they were personally involved in or at least willfully ignorant of the actions.

Pi-s off your boss and your boss's boss. For added measure, pi-s off some of the managers that are in your ranking meeting.

Not turn in PDS won't work. Better to just convince your supervisor

RE = NSI

Will be given a PIP by someone younger than your kids, who does not have a clue how to do anything but kiss a-s and make PowerPoints.

Ordinarily I'd say so a lousy job, but in the present org that seems equally likely to get you promoted.

(1). Not being a legacy Exxon hire. If you’re XTO, you’ll be on the subhuman hit list sooner rather than later.

(2) Be a white male 50 plus years old.

(3). Be in a position that management wants one of their homeboys in.

Stop contributing and give snide remarks to your SLS and FLS in meetings.
