Potential 100% return to work March 1 - per Kenney

Jesuit university and Philosophy dropout Jason Kenney has just indicated that it is possible we can 100% return to work March 1st barring it does not blow up in his face. One last effort to save his political career. How does everyone feel?

There is a boomer on my team in a cubicle who was supposed to retire pre-covid but for some reason we can't get rid of him and he won't go away. Guy is way past his best before date. He also clips his nails onto his desk and wipes the clippings on the floor... but doesn't get all of them.

I love it when people criticize millennials not realizing they are the majority of the work force. If you are the one criticizing them take a look in the mirror. If you are over sixty you need to realize you don't fit in any more and are seen as a hinderance in this company. It is time for you to move on just like your usefulness has. Its tiring watching you everyday with your declining mentality and your refusal to evolve with the times.

The post below has to be written by someone in the field. Can anyone translate it to English?

“Go Oilers” just proved in his #2 the ironic ridiculousness of the ‘I dont want to go back to the office” schtick.... ppl are crying cuz they will get sick - not because you can use a computer at home. If that is the type of job you want .... go elsewhere.

“Lifting mandatory work from home” to you, means “100% return to work” good grief. That is a stretch .... lol. If I were u I wouldn’t be slamming is education. Cuz yours isn’t shining thru either.

I work with a boomer here who will occasionally rail on about how millennials want everything handed to them without having to put in any work or sacrifice (like he did - which is true.) He also gifted each of his two adult children over 100K to purchase houses, and flies them and their families to Hawaii for Christmas each year on his dime. The lack of self-awareness is incredible. It's always someone else's kids, eh.

He can barely log into his computer so the likelihood of him seeing this is nil.

Ah yes millennials the persistently young, childless, unexperienced boogeypeople who are now by definition between 26 and 41.

Some of the stuff posted here is hilarious.

  1. Pretty sure NASA wasn't faced with a global pandemic like this and a good number of the population refusing to get vaccinated. They also didn't have the technology we do now
  1. Are you really comparing grocery store workers, pharmacists, warehouse workers (all hands on/physical jobs) with those like ours that are largely technology-based and can be completed remotely?

Some of you guys need to retire already and ride off into the sunset. Embarrassing stuff from the boomers lately.

This is only for the comment about going back to work. Not Jason Kenney trying to bring our province back to normal. It is so a millennial moment right now. They say Why do I have to go to an office when you can just pay me to be at home. A good example is “Mom why take out garbage it can wait till next week”. No sense of responsibility because they know someone else will do it for them. Industry thrives when intelligent people are physically together and can bounce ideas off each other. Nasa didn’t come together from just one nerd in a garage. It took alot of nerds.( And yes I am one of those nerds) . As soon as a millennial becomes a parent they will realize this wisdom because they will realize they are not the center of the universe. And by that time an amazing career in a good industry can pass them by because they had no foresight.

People in grocery stores, pharmacies , hospitals , watehouses, etc have been 'going to the office ' since day one of the pandemic . Mostly for minimum wages . Perhaps it's tim to go back folks. Be brave

With that attitude, do you think the red carpet will will be rolled out to your new office? A fa-t is the least of you worries.

Just wait until your sitting in those ship-ho-e cubicles after an hour of commuting, just to have your neighbour to the left let one rip as soon as you arrive. Neighbour to the right laughs too loud and the guy behind you won’t shut up.

It makes you think of life and other greener pastures. Good timing as I will have my bonus payout. Time to go

Lots of resignation letters will be sent in when back to office returns!! My guess 15-20%. many will retire early and enjoy life or find another career path... Best wishes to all.. Cheers

For sure to the post below. It's not just a Cenovus problem but an industry problem. The new generation of office staff are not going to want - but demand a flexible work schedule. I can name 6 other companies locally who have a similar mindset, and I know that one of the companies has lost top talent during the interview process due to the companies insistence that everyone be back in the office when restrictions are lifted. No exceptions. Thankfully I am retiring and won't have to experience this exodus firsthand. Way to shoot yourselves in the foot.

I’ve honestly really enjoyed not having to pay for parking and spending over an hour of my day commuting. Also don’t have high hopes for the flexibility pilot with “up to” two days a week WFH. Leadership is too old-school to understand that the future of retention and recruitment is looking like it will be centered around remote options. Three people on my team have already quit since Jan - curious to see what the effects of mandatory return will be. I expect return will be announced for mid March

It's a last ditch effort to save Kenney's political career in Alberta. Nothing more. Hoping things go right to appease the rural UCP and hold on to his leadership at the part vote in April. Bonus if he can open the Coutts border by appeasing the truckers. Bigger bonus if he can overwhelm the public health system and move to privative what he can before the next election. Kenney only cares about himself, his corporate masters, and his boyfriend.
