Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

I should have gone to a smaller bank a long time ago

What a relief! At first I was quite hesitant, it didn't seem like a good idea to go to a bank that doesn't have such a strong physical presence after spending a long time here. It turned out to be a great idea. Not only am I paid more (!), but the stress is incomparably less. I just miss some of my very dear colleagues who are still at BofA. From this perspective, it's hard to understand why many of us still do not want to look for a job in smaller banks?

I also landed at a smaller bank and the first thing I noticed was the difference in management and overall egos. I've been able to just gasp do my job and my manager deals with all of the politics. Very refreshing.

I like the "idea" of BofA, sadly the execution of it is terrible. Very poor management from top on down. Decisions on made without do consideration. Raises, bonuses, promotions, compensation, all are an utter fail with very little chance of moving up or making more. I have no ego in this, I'm working on getting out and going to someplace smaller too, for the very reasons the OP mentioned.

ego. tell people where you work and everybody knows bank of america. tell people you work at some podunk local bank and people don't know about it so you have to explain it.
