Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Stuck here

I don't remember ever being so demoralized. I don’t know if I’m more tired of this company or looking for a new job. Everyone who leaves says they got a new job very quickly. Is that really so?
I thought I was marketable but for more than 5 months straight I have been looking for a better option without success. Many people apply for every open position and the competition is huge. At least that's my experience.

They are giving field leadership positions alway. There is a severe shortage of talent so they will give positions to any knuckle head who has no business doing the job. I hate to condone anyone taking these positions, but having multi unit leader as opposed to store manger on your resume sure sounds better. It certainly opens up opportunities out of CVS and with get your “unstuck”

Take advantage of cvs ffl courses. As much as i couldn't stand cvs you cannot deny the development of leadership skills they present for FREE!! That was one of my ways to get out! Just a fyi!

It's harder if you're low-to-moderately skilled and you haven't kept up with advances in tech. I guess it also depends on your field. In IT, if you've kept yourself current, you can find a new job with decent pay in a few weeks. If you've sat back and taken the token raises every year and only kept up with what you need to do your job, then yeah, you'll have a harder time of it.
If you don't like the atmosphere though, change it. Even if you have to take a cut to get somewhere else, life is too short to be unhappy.

That’s the same problem I am finding. Sure there are a lot of jobs, but most are lower paying for someone in management. I guess it also depends on the area or market.
