Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

It's all about the message

AIG is all about messaging. For instance, I know AIG loves me, they value equality, diversity, and they care about their employees. I know this because they go out of their way to tell me this every single day in the hopes that I somehow will believe it.

At the same time AIG just sent every employee a very powerful subliminal message. National inflation is now at 7.5%. Rent, food and gas have well surpassed 7.5% over the last year.

For the first time AIG just told every one of you that you are not being considered for a raise in Q1 like has always been the case. No, you are not getting a raise in one of the most challenging inflationary times since the 1970's. Maybe AIG will reconsider later in the year? Maybe you don't get a raise at all? We will just have to see what happens with L&R.

Words are just words. Action is what matters. AIG just showed their hand at the actions that will continue to come in 2022. That is undeniable no matter how much you want to believe otherwise.

The haven’t and will never really care. Most big companies are like that. A few have a culture that encourages high achievement, but that’s based on good leadership, which AIG lacks.
You only have an obligation to be loyal to yourself. By the way, your manager had little control over what your STI number is this year, all done at top of house. Consider that the next time you’re told to work yet another weekend to do your job.

It's also a pension with thousands of my dollars sitting in an AIG controlled account.

I stumbled upon the old documentary on the collapse of Enron last night on Amazon Prime. It is a free watch. It is fascinating to see how greed corrupts a CEO, COO and the entire Board of Directors for what was once one of the largest companies in America. You know Too Big to Fail.

I'm not suggesting AIG is Enron, but there are striking similarities that show how employees are misled and taken advantage of by their "leaders".

I can't help but wonder if it is time to cash out of AIG now while I still can or ride the ship until they close the doors?

It is beyond bu-----t, that they would do this. It’s also because they don’t want to give people raises before the max exodus. But who cares right? BE HAPPY U HAVE A JOB RIGHT? No AIG, you better be happy that I make money for you. You need to realize that Aig is just a brand or company and without your hard work, they wouldn’t be making the money they do. So embrace and be confident in your work ethic to produce anywhere you go! And if AIG pays me like i deserve, i will value everything u say. Otherwise, peace out. I’m getting a job where someone else compensates me for my worth. And little does AIG know.. companies out there are paying employees from AIG double the amount they are getting here. AIG just hopes you don’t go elsewhere and are comfortable here making peanuts.
