Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

How likely is it that the acquisition of Splunk will not happen?

I hope it doesn't happen.

For those who remember: Cisco purchased Flip just as it became obvious the smart phone would ki-l that product. Same would happen here: Purchase of a money losing company with technology that larger and more stable companies already challenge. It's too late for both companies to benefit from an acquisition. Better for Splunk to license its technology before they get steam rolled.

you need 20 billion to pay for it and Cisco $ is not stacked on shore, it is offshore, hence they will cut people to get a portion of 20 billion to pay for it.

These are rumors resurfacing again. I have heard this the 3rd time in last 5 years. If it happens, someone is going to get very rich and get the fk off from Cisco. I would like to understand the reason behind it though but as usual no one has a fking clue on how this acquisition will bring value to Cisco legacy world :-). World is moving to cloud and Cisco will acquire all on-prem companies one day to be the alternative to anything but cloud :-)

On the Zscaler note, it will never happen. Zscaler has refused Cisco's offer 3 times. Jay Chaudhary never wants Zscaler to be aquired by Cisco due to cultural issues. Last offer that Cisco made was $12B in 2020 during Cisco live Barcelona just before COVID hit and it was outright rejected by Zscaler. How do I know? I was part of the group making that decision in strategy office.Zscaler's market cap was around $7B then and now $40B. Acquiring PAN would be much better at the same price, at east Cisco will have some FW's to sell :-).
