Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

It’s amazing that we are leaders of technology but we can’t offer or extend work from home to those that do not want to return to the office

We pride ourselves on innovation and removing people at branches for iPads and automation, but then vehemently oppose allowing people to continue flexibility in their daily jobs for those that want it by working from home. Do executives not understand that we do not get the same experience? No valet. We collaborate through Skype and Webex anyway since most of us don’t work at the same locations.

I’m just venting but as the 03/01 date approaches, I’m just getting more and more pi---d that this is the end result.

And yes, I am looking for a new job that is full remote.

This is bananas.

@1gji+1fq5xqQ6 Were you told this by somebody in HR who's close to the policy decisions? If not, whoever you were talking to is full of it and doesn't know anything more than you do.

RTO requires 1 hour extra to get ready, then a 30 minute commute there & back plus a 30 minute lunch. OVER 2.5 hours a day gone. That coupled with the cost of gas, wear & tear on the car and sitting in maddening stressful traffic to start my day. Let's not forget the office politics & the swirling deadly disease which is not eradicated. Vaccinated or not you can get it. I wish the higher ups could see their old school ways of 8 hours in office M-F is a thing of the past. They will lose valuable people but no matter, they will find a new set of minions. Perhaps when the old timers retire & a younger modern set of executives take over things will change...but for now either march back in risk getting covid with a smile or you can kiss your livelihood goodbye.

Who wants to RTO….No one really. Just because I want to WFH, I’ve become accustomed to WFH, I can’t imagine the treacherous commute to/fro work, less time with family, being able to run and throw a load in real quick, the money I’m saving on commute expenses. I mean I’m showering less (maybe gaining a little weight…shhh but saving money on soap, water and shampoo nonetheless)…..it’s wishful thinking and not living in reality maybe to think we will continue on this way.

Out of curiosity has anyone experienced any mental issues from your work environment being the same as your home environment, showering less, maybe hanging out in your pj’s longer than normal or for more days than normal, going straight from work to TV, prolonging the need to go into public for simple grocery store items or is that just me?

The folks that relocated at least in technology were laid off last year. I’m sure it’ll be more of the same for those that moved outside of markets in 2021, also.

To the OP, please don't confuse "can't" with "won't". They are able, they just don't want to do it, there's a huge difference.

@1def+1fq5xqQ6 Well I was told yesterday that if you are vaccinated and did not report that on the vaccine site they’re could be disciplinary action, as they consider that falsifying documentation. The worst part is in my department they hired a few full time WFH associates that previously worked In banking centers that’s closed but made a girl that moved during the pandemic quit. I’m also very interested in seeing how often my unit manager actually comes in as she never did before.

They should not require mandatory RTO until they’re comfortable implementing it for all - including unvaccinated. And then also put them on another floor/area as implied in 2020. Literally so stupid especially considering that many teams aren’t even at the same site and don’t have local colleagues.

Very interested in what folks are doing if they relocated. Also interested in how they’ll handle sick time for those who are forced to go into the office for being vaccinated while those who aren’t continue to WFH (or at least they just won’t report because they want the luxury of WFH). And so much for getting that $200 to report our vaccination status.. those who didn’t report theirs get to WFH and save far more on these astronomical gas prices.

BofA hyping Erica: "Customers can use technology to do everything they used to have to do in person."
BofA on WFH: "You can't rely on technology. Some things just have to be done in person."
Come on Brian, pick a side!

I spent most of my day on the phone with HR submitting a complaint and asking simple questions. Like will there be a WFH option of your not feeling well enough to come into the office and need a test? Do I have to use sick time while others wouldn’t that are still work from home? They have no answers for that.

To be fair, they "claim" best tech but in truth are anything but. Instead of having real software for various work functions, we use MS Office products, as a makeshift solutions which were not designed to do the work being conducted. Takes YEARS, if at all, to move away from these makeshift applications all the while the people having to try and make these solutions fit, suffer.

The 2% raise was the cherry on top. Really disgusting.

The hypocrisy is real. That paired with the 2% raise that doesn’t keep up with inflation has many heading for the door

Bank of America boasting about advancements in technology all over the media and Flagscape, while simultaneously being vehemently opposed to WFH is nonsense. Leads me to believe there’s truth to the assumption that they are forcing RTO to gain attrition, and avoid paying severance. Once they’ve corralled the remaining employees back in the office, they’ll offer some BS hybrid model that nobody likes.
