that most employees work less than they worked anywhere before and that for that bare minimum they are compensated more than they would be anywhere else. I'm sorry if it offends anyone, but it's true. I have friends who have gone to other companies and who have only slightly better working conditions, but have to work drastically more for it. Someone said that T is like playing the piano on the Titanic for most employees, not just for the C suite, and it's very much true. I don't want to leave here because I want to milk the cow for as long as possible, but unlike some, I admit it.

Perhaps, you people in the in-region areas of the country are busy, but not so much in out of region!
Not sure where the poster works or for what org? Please divulge. We are drowning in my area working 12 hour days and weekends most of the time (Worked yesterday Saturday). We Have lost many people and can not backfill. I am burnt out at this point and it is only 1Q.
Sales personnel are just not selling enough T services or fast enough to keep the installers busy in the out of region areas of the country. The work is just not there even though management has been promising lots of work still to come!
Simply not true. Maybe in your org. I have plenty of work to fill 10 hr days without taking breaks and a lunch. I work hard, and I deserve to be equitably compensated fro the quality of my work, experience, and education.
I work on average about 2 to 3 hours a day. But my busy period is coming up and for the next 3 - 4 months, I have to put in about 10 to 12 hours a day and I work so hard I get sick and throw up
This is a topic talked about less than how less productive employees are when WFH!
“
I do little as a tech during the week.
They can not put work in front of me and it's not my job to find some.
Give me work, and I'll get right on it.
That said, I've zero problem taking $40+ and hour to do crosswords and move the truck every 20 minutes.
Best thing is, troubles/cut cables come in at the end of the day. So I get accolades for taking some, work an extra 3-4 hours when I want and make big $$$.
Not to mention "Can you work this weekend?"
Sure. So by Thursday I'll be getting double time for doing nothing.
Smile and wave.”

I assure you that you are wrong. I’m working 50+ hours a week. Just because you’re a slacker doesn’t mean everyone is.

If you want to work hard, come on over to Mobility Market RAN/C&E. Never ending work will these technology changes. Already starting to prep for 6G coming soon!
The salary surveys they published last summer showed many jobs were underpaid compared to other companies and they adjusted the salary bands.
They did not increase your place in the bands so this only served to confirm that some people were underpaid with the "claim" that future performance cycles would then adjust your position in the new "higher" band. Given they squashed the high end of the bands the year before, it's more likely that many more experienced (translated OLDER) employees will continue to get no raise and the those who benefit will again be the younger workers who tend to be at the lower end of the bands.
AT&T IS AMAZING AND I AM LUCKY TO WORK FOR THEM
I work maybe 20% of the time. But it's high-quality work. Some days, I work 10 -12 hours a day so maybe it balances out.
Business Services/ABFS work isn’t bad @ all. I average 5-8 hrs of OT a week and don’t work to hard during the week and take the work truck home.
why do certain races get to work less and not get punished?
My dude, forget about it, I used to hump ladders, climb poles, and enter garbage homes for garbage money. Now with ABFS, I stay air conditioned in a take-home truck, racking routers and swapping phones for ludicrous checks. Highly recommend it while it lasts.
it true but that is what an environment of surplus after surplus after surplus gets you. it gets to the point why try and just hang on to keep your job.
was at att for 17 years left on my own and been to two places since and have been promoted more than I was the 17 years at att and I am making more than my salary when I left and my bonuses are bigger. hey and guess I don't get moved around and I am doing the job I want and just not a line on the spreadsheet.
so many better managed companies out there than att it isn't even funny wish I left sooner but then my pension buyout would not have been as big. so it all evens out I guess.
last 6 or 7 years I hated going into att. not anymore. my company lets EVERYONE work from home a few days a week and I actually look forward to going into work. I never thought that would happen again working at att.
and now att taking away retiree benefits I am even more happier I left. just goes to show att's true colors.
And we get to WFH now. I’ll be T for life!
I don't know where you guys are working - but it is NOT that way here. Where are you - maybe I can transfer and get a cushy job?
thats pretty much the jist of it. people who are cruising in this company with good network/pay/work+life balance aren't going to complain in this layoff site- this is just another antiwork subreddit
I agree, this job was like being in a country club, very little work and good pay! It's still like that only now it's almost no work and very good pay! Why would I leave this situation and have to work for my money elsewhere! I, too will milk this cow for as long as I want. Let T lay me off if they feel the need, cuz every 2 weeks, I laugh all the way to the ATM!
