The truth about "Human" Resources

Posted in a thread below.

The "rant" from @3kdl+1frjDU8W is bang on. Unless you are of value to them, HR is not your friend. Period. Ever. It attracts the lowest of the low. If you are in a situation where you have to engage HR, get everything in writing. Tell them that. If they push back stand your ground. If they contact you via cell phone, have a recording app running and record everything. Canada and Alberta are one consent jurisdictions. So as long as you consent, it's all good and you don't have to tell them anything. They can fire you but you can fire them. Look after YOUR interests.

Avoid using personal insults and identifiables like names and initials, that’s not allowed here. It’s not a company owned forum board, but it has rules and a post can probably be reported/nuked for rule violation.

It is because Calgary has eyes on this site and they need to protect their own.

Looks like HR pulled several posts on here claiming bullying and an atmosphere of intimidation and fear! If the claims are legit, then report them through the integrity helpline. If the claims are false, stop making them.

Agreed HR does not make any decisions, they just execute the requests. Which is why when Alex tells you to talk to your HRBP it’s complete garbage. HR has no decision rights and so they cannot do anything except take your complaint to the VP. It’s why they don’t actually pick up the phone. They know they are not allowed to do anything and they’re afraid if they say something wrong they would be in trouble, so they’re of no help anyways.

These posts make me laugh. What you don't seem to understand is that every decision that is made about you is made by your manager, not HR. They just have to execute on it. Take a look at yourself and ask yourself why do you think it's happening to you......maybe it's you that's the issue!!! HR has no decision rights on this stuff which shows how little you know about running a company and likely is why you're at the level you are or not here anymore....likely the latter!!

Another point to add. If you are in a meeting with HR, record the conversation on your phone. Hit record before you enter the room and place the phone down. Look after yourself... agreed.
