Is 32 Hours The New Norm For F/T Employees

Our store has us F/T scheduled at 32 hours a week through March 18 so far. Are other stores doing this? I guess they want a mass walkout.

They are cutting hours big time due to hiring seasonal employees at my store. They are only cutting part time hours and believe me, some good people are going to quit. The seasonal workers they’ve been hiring look like the walking dead. They are being given lots of hours too

Wake up
Time to put your thinking cap on. What happen the last time gas prices reached this high?
Good times, of consumer spending on remodels, extensions, new homes will grind to a standstill.
People will switch to survival mode: Food, clothing and shelter. Basic necessities and that's it.
Marvelous, and small hand have read the tea leaves before you have.

Sales are down because Lowes laid off the part timers and cut back hours on the full timers, You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out less people on the floor less sales. Ge-z

It’s the lull before the storm. They are flexing down due to sales and transaction counts being down. Business will explode as soon as the weather turns and then they will put all FT’s back to 39 hours.

I haven’t heard a thing about this. Was there an email today. Because no one on Reddit is talking about this. Maybe it’s in certain districts or regions.

I guess Marvin can't float the stores some cash after all these bonuses where paid out. I mean come on $23,075,881 compensation for 2021. He is one greedy CEO

Hey Marv, you just cost yourself $30,000 in cabinet sales this week. Was the $150.00 you saved on me worth it?!?!
What Stupidity…

More people on the sales floor does equal more sales. One or two large sales equals the pay for one or two entire shifts. If you make 3 extra sales because someone was there to help the customer, you are now ahead. Etc. Retail likes to ignore basic math while reaching for the short term cost cutting.

Marvy has to make up the difference somehow with all the bonuses he gave out. I giveth and taketh away.

But its funny you would think more people on the sales floor, more sales. I was always told that more sales equals more people for the store. All Lies!

Time for a major wake up call for the full timers here and get out now.

This is why when you hear "no one wants to work" you speak up loud. You want to work. I want to work. But the opportunity to work isn't there like how people think.
Companies want to pay the same in wages as they did before the minimum wages & starting pay went up. They do this by lowering hours so their total payout is the same. If anything they want to payout less.
A company doing great never trickles down to the worker. Look at all the companies that made record breaking profits during the pandemic but want to squeeze the employees now. The employees who made them the profits.
C suite salaries and bonuses need to be capped. It's not as though no one will do the job if they made less. You always have to be available but the day to day of the job probably isn't as difficult as people think after a steep learning curve.

Yeah same at our store. Been with Lowe’s 12 years and never seen full time cut to 32 hours a week. It’s a joke how Wall Street thinks the company is doing so great. Why doesn’t Ellison cut his 11 million a year pay???
