Hired in three months ago. Was told recently that I am going on what they call a Bench next week. What the heck is the Bench? Is this like a Baseball or Football bench? So when I go on Bench on what do I do to get off this Bench? Is there a time limit?
Thank you and God bless to all who can take time away from their busy day at Booz Allen Hamilton and explain what this Bench is all about and how much time I have to get off

I’ve experienced being benched before—spent about three months on the sidelines a few years ago. Currently, I’m at about 50% utilization, so I'm hoping that still signals some level of job security. That said, I had mentally prepped for a potential layoff around this time anyway. My advice? Build up a solid rainy-day fund and try to make the most of the downtime. Take a workcation if you can, and use the lull to your advantage.
get ready to be canned. wear a clean dress.
The bench is sitting around all day doing nothing, while your manager tries to find you a position.
