Smaller Banks Also Have Problems

I've seen it suggested often to look for a job in a smaller bank to avoid the issues that are usually associated with major banks, but the truth is that even they have their own problems. I worked at a regional bank for four years and it was just as bad as here.

We had our benefits and vacation days cut with no explanation, we would show up just to find people missing, again with no explanation... There is no perfect workplace out there. If you keep looking for one, all you'll get is a disappointment.

Always going to have Some cr-p managers, I think the diff is smaller banks offer a better work life balance, more opportunity for advancement (no JP only mentality), and some offer pension plans on top of 401k.

OP I hear you, but if your message is to not bother with striving for better because “it only leads to disappointment”, I couldn’t disagree more.

I think the message should be that “different isn’t always better, but it could be and it is worth striving for.”

Life/work/relationships are never going to be perfect, but I don’t ever want to settle for less than I want. Striving for better requires hard work, consistency and commitment, but it is most certainly worth it.

Being recruited by a former WF colleague to work at a regional. It would be a promotion and likely salary increase, but they have the same RTO approach as WF. I haven't decided, but I'm leaning against.
