If nothing else, a new offer that I got thanks to the experience here was worth spending the four years of my life in this company. I gave notice and for me T was a great stepping stone.
But I am really interested in those who say that they have stagnated here to such an extent that it is difficult for them to find new opportunities. Who feels that his or her skills have atrophied here through no fault of their own?
Skills havent atrophied -- but ATT used to have a MUCH higher regard with recruiters. Now its more of a liability than an asset to have worked for ATT regardless of the amount of time.
Me. Got a job offer at T somewhere around 20% more than what I was making. Once I started the job I couldn't believe it. This is it? This is all these people have to do? A lazy 16 yo could have done the work. Some of them had been doing it for decades. I didn't stay long. relied on other qualifications and previous employment to move on to something else.
I stagnated.
39 years outside.
Same thing day after day.
The days to weeks. The weeks to years. The years to decades.
I guess why they call it a job and they have to pay one to show up.
All I got was a huge lump sum, health insurance, big 401K and got bored when I retired at 57, 6 years ago.
It's terrible.
