Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Wasteful bureaucracy

Wasteful bureaucracy is common in large corporations, but it is really frustrating here. How many times have you wanted to leave Q just because of bureaucracy?
I'm still here even though I think my earnings could be higher somewhere else, but it's because of the bureaucracy that I often want to leave.

This is intentional. Who else uses Perl in 2022?

30% headcount reduction is needed in the end. The number of PMs should be reduced too. VPs and SVPs should get the critical information without relying on PMs. If PMs can't be reduced, they should reduce the number of VPs. Lots of VPs are doing nothing and should go home or retire immediately.

Man, if they trimmed the non-essential people, they'd save a ton of money on overhead, like office space leasing, etc. And the "culture" would drastically improve too, as the non-essentials who b.s., play politics to seem important, etc would disappear. Imagine working with people you actually respect and trust. Would solve the employee retention problem too. They need to focus on Quality People, not just Quality Communcations. The biggest advantage of work from home has been avoiding the daily exposure to the phony people who would stick a kn--e in your back without a second thought.

In Qualcomm, it becomes more bureaucratic because of matrix structure. There is no central tower to control head counts. Some teams are lean and hard to deliver the tasks on time. But some teams are very bulky and creating the useless non-essential tasks. But they try to justify those are very critical. But we know those make our labor process more complicated. Sr. Vp Should carefully check whether their organizations are lean or bulky. But if they listen from their Vps and Sr. Directors, they will get wrong information because they wouldn't tell the truth. Qualcomm is already very bureaucratic and all teams should start eliminating the non-essential tasks. We should carefully evaluate who contribute or who creates non-essential tasks. Otherwise, no one is going to do real works. In the end. We will discourage the real workers and make them leave.
