Keeping skills up-to-date

It is very important to make an effort and remain marketable in today’s competitive business world. I still think that keeping skills updated is the task of an individual, but for me personally it was not easy. Perhaps BNY Mellon doesn't have a particularly good learning culture after all? It’s only now that I’m looking for a new job that I realize how much some of my skills have atrophied here.

By far the best way to get skilled up is to go to a contracting firm and give it 5 years of assignments. You’ll earn more right away and you’ll learn tons of new things.

You are totally on your own learning new skills. The courses offered have nothing to do with actual skills.
