Is it just me or have there been fewer and fewer opportunities for an employee to advance, even if that individual did very good work, showed talent and good work ethics? This used to be a place where one could realistically hope to advance. Now good, talented people are literally wasting their career working at lower positions. What has this company turned into?

Everybody keeps talking about layoffs but I have been unable to confirm one single person layed off.
Not quite sure how you advance when hundreds are being laid off right now.
Performance?? Lmao... Only way to get promoted is be one of the complete mo--ns who actually do nothing but post on Twitter all the time (the company DOES realize that no one outside the company sees those posts, right??) - or hate to say it, but I'll be blunt and truthful - only if you are a minority.
If you're white - FORGET it. You better look for another job. Facts .........
Yeah, if you show any interest in moving forward, you’re shuffled into a “development program” rather than any actual promotion. This company loves the appearance of doing something without doing anything.
