Thus the exodus
Welcome to Citi...lucky if you get 1% bonus, they'll skimp at any opportunity they get and blame you for not getting any.
It doesn’t always correlate that way. I’ve gotten the highest ranking 4 times and have gotten anywhere from 0%-3%, which might as well be nothing. The year I got 0% my manager’s manager said that everyone under his umbrella was getting 0%. He gave some bogus song and dance reason. Yes, I’ve heard it all. “Well you need to be in a group that makes money”, so you move to those groups. Then you hear “Well you need a role that does something new and not just keep the lights on”. Etc…whatever. So, now I do just enough to keep from getting fired and my bonus is the same. What’s my motivation to give long hours? It certainly isn’t reward.
If you really got a 0% bonus that was months ago. And meant you got a cr-p rating. Time to leave.
Thus the job hopping for higher pay to offset what you are NOT getting.
Most careers don’t pay bonuses so……
Use this experience as motivational fuel to muster great enthusiasm on a job search for a company that has no qualm on paying you what you are worth. Don’t fool yourself into thinking that it’ll be better next year, it won’t.
