Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Getting rich off the backs that built the company

Now that all the talent has been removed over the last 5years the only local competition between store managers is who has the least amount of freight sitting on the floor.

Great work place ? Coaches ? Team leads ? everyone is being treated like the union is in place but you didn't have a voice at the table for options in pay.

Sam Walton built the greatest retail industry on earth. Now the Store Mgr. / DM / REgional's and above are raking in the $$$ off your backs.

Nice post but you’re trying to use logic, reason and facts. No one here has any desire for any of that. Yoda would say, “Like lemmings, they are.”

So what you want is an unskilled job that pays you $25-30 dollars an hour or more, give you free healthcare, 100% fund your retirement account and give you a pension, give you free education, give you two weeks or more paid vacation, give you another two weeks of leave for whatever you want, give you any schedule you want (that some won't work anyway), give each and every employee personal attention and affirmation, etc.
All while trying to stay in business. Huh, wonder how high prices would have to go to pull this off? But then again, if prices rose to pay for all of this then someone would complain that they can't afford to pay the prices and they need a raise and more benefits.
The financial and business education of most people is tragically lacking in this country.
Here's an idea: take advantage of the free education that is offered by Walmart, take advantage of the 401k match that Walmart gives (it's like free money), take advantage of the Employee Stock Purchase Plan in which you get a 15% discount (it's like a 15% return on your money), take advantage of your discounts and other discounts offered by Walmart and their partners, take advantage of the Walmart+ discounts (.10 on gas)
No job is perfect but Walmart offers many things that most companies don't. And lastly, a little self-starting and initiative goes a long way with any company.

Ha ha. Incredibly funny. But sad, too. Don’t people understand how retail works?

What company on earth does not make money/profits off the labor of the employees?

Duh. Walmart is retail. Were you dozing off in your economics 101 class? Every retail company is like this. Amazon, Target, etc etc etc. If you would have stayed in school and got that degree, stayed out of trouble with the law and focused of your career and future, you’d be the store manager or DM and you’d be singing a different tune. If you don’t like Walmart, do us all a favor and just get out. We’ll all be better off.

It’s never going to change. Left after 21 years of dedicated service and was amazed how different life became immediately.

Most business are like what you say but other retailers have a more personal relation with their workers. Walmart is to big to have that mentality anymore.
