Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

New CIO soon

When will we have a new CIO? This guy has been in seat since 2015! And hasn’t done a whole lot to modernize the function or improve quality. Time to go! PS: if he’s reading this, it’s time to get rid of that decades old headshot. We all know you don’t look a thing like that anymore.

ImagineIT, duh. The $450MM that he saved CTC. Oh wait, IT didn't hit that number and continues to cost BILLIONS a year.

What has been BB's biggest contribution to CVX to date?

Corp affairs and HR are certainly working over time on this board trying to deflect from the reality!!

If MW and EB have a clue and the cajones, they will hire from outside and will hire a heavy hitter from the tech industry to truly transform the sorry state of our IT/Digital in this company. To do so, they would need this person reporting straight to MW as CDO to give it the clout and to give it the $$ and to make it attractive enough to bring in the right person. Our employees truly do want transformation of systems, tools and data but it will not happen by replacing BB with another internal clone cultivated and homegrown with the “same old way”. We operate decades of old steel that is ripe for modernization with digital/technology but the BUs are empowered to act independently and manage the steel only thru incremental application - and almost zero collaboration with the center. There is a better way to operate these assets digitally but it will not happen under the old guard…….

They should regrade it to PSG26 and just give it to a hipotress from HR or Supply chain.

Will the next CIO be an external candidate, existing IT GM or someone from outside IT (e.g like the chief digital officer - FC)? Place your bets….

CIO is a far from critical role, no reason to waste that on a white male when a more diverse candidate could do just as weak a job.

If you’re trolling this board making comments about “is this about layoffs”, then you aren’t very intelligent or can’t read very well as the opening page clearly states that this site is NOT just about layoffs. It says “news and rumors”. Read it again if you don’t understand.

Imo bb needs to retire. He has no clue how to modernize and his leadership team is weak. Modern leaders admit mistakes and pivot. This group along with the majority of 25s need to be put out to pasture. Agility and value tend to be mantras that they spew, but none of them know how to chase it. Those who can usually teach, but in this case they purchase the services of BCG, Deloitte, and others who provide weak "insights" for zero return on investment and quite possibly negative ROI. BB is d-mb as rocks and has been out of his league for a number of years. Not one accomplishment to his name aside from having a kick a-s ac/dc pinball machine.

Is this about layoffs or does it affect your employment in any way at all, wtf?

Any management who's been in a position for seven years should see the handwriting on the wall - you're going nowhere, and you'll be encouraged to 'seek new opportunities' once some high-pot is ready to take your job.

Anyone who is good at computers has already left for a Silicon Valley job. We got the scabs.

Once you are a high enough level, they just wait you out while giving lots of signals you will not be promoted ever again. Most guys just stick it out until 65. Years ago the EVP was told this and promptly quit for a CEO job at a huge corp which she ran very successfully for a decade.
