And after almost 20 years I decided to start looking. It was a great run up until the last year or so. Shocked to have two different recruiters tell me essentially the same thing. That a candidate from TR used to be basically be a slam dunk and they would have no trouble placing. Now the assumption is that anyone still left at TR is “damaged goods” because anyone talented that could leave has left. What the heck? Anyone else hearing this? Am I stuck here??

Disheartening for those who've stayed because they have enjoyed the work in the past.
Break the job years up into R.I. A., Thomson, and then Thomson Reuters (if you can).
Don’t give up. Everyone that I have talked to who has left is much, much happier including individual contributors, managers, young talent, and SVPs.
You're not the damaged goods, but TR sure is. What you may need to do, if you've not already done so, is get some professional help crafting your resume to focus on your accomplishments over your entire tenure with TR. Overall, 20 yrs is a long time to be with any single employer. You may need to focus on your different roles and skills, and how you've evolved.
"No you are not stuck. In interviews just tell the truth, that you are a hard worker, but that the goal of the new CEO was to cut and move all US based jobs to lower cost locations and that negatively impacted the hard workers in the US that tried to stick it out."
Correct - this will help!
So sad......TR name used to carry real weight. Not anymore!

I'm in the same boat. How disappointing.
