The economy is going south. Dow was down 1164 points today, glad I have a great well paying job at T. I hope I can get another 10 years in before I retire. May as well keep raking in the cash all while the economy implodes around us!

Good luck, you’re not getting another 10 years in.
Would probably stay a couple more years myself but with my lump sum being down over 100K as of April, and undoubtably getting worse by the month that appears to be an unlikely scenario
Admit it, T is ressesion proof. Doesn't matter what the economy does, T will be uneffected.
with the way the big guy is stealing from the stock market no one will retire.
I never understand the responses that assume that those who complain about legitimate issues are automatically bad workers. It’s a weird Pr-------t work ethic implies stoicism that just isn’t true. I can guarantee you that there are top performers who happen to take a jaundiced view of our leadership. I don’t think T is a safe haven this time around because fiber and wireless have limited growth potential and cutting muscle along with the fat is required.
“ Employees with this mindset are of no benefit to the company.”
The apathetic attitude didn’t invent itself. Executives who failed big and long term are rewarded with promotions and golden parachutes. Expect work force to model the same behavior and expectations.
@1ong+1gNc8g0d - hmmm... retire old and wealthy versus retire very old and very wealthy?
Employees with this mindset are of no benefit to the company.
I agree with OP. T is safer than most companies when a recession hits. I have 35 years in and would like to work another 10-15 years. Keep squirreling away that money into your 401K. You can retire very wealthy.
Spoken like a true BT!
Crashing by design. Grab some popcorn and enjoy the circus.
OP is right, T is the place to work when the economy goes bad, which it is. Little chance of losing your job, even in hard times. The next few years will challenge the best of us, hang on and keep a low profile.
Yeah, you think you can hold on to your job? Watch out!!! I think deep recession is coming. They are cooking it slow but when it hits it will hit hard. Start saving. Became more humble and thankful.
Been with T for almost four decades and there has been lots of economic turmoil throughout and T seems to endure all the time. Its employees stay employed for the most part or at least I have and get through the hard times. Why should this time be any different?
Wow such low self esteem and self worth. You deserve everything T dishes out
Smile, wave.
Work as much OT as possible.
Try to run them out of $$$$.
Be smart enough to play stupid.
Win.
You are exactly the type of model employee T needs!
