Let's discuss the possibility. Please consider this to be a 'rumor thread', so take all the info very lightly as it is just 'rumors'

LinkedIn is also filled with daily "starting a new position" announcements of Sungard people who have proactively made the move out of there, not waiting to see how things shake out. For those still there, safe to assume many of those around you (virtually) are likely headed for the exits as well as soon as they can. Good luck everyone!
Linked-in is suddenly very busy with current Sungard people 'open for work'.
Best of luck to them, the job market is nice and bouyant at the moment plus you get paid a decent wage once you leave and the work is far more rewarding.....win win!
@1ijn+1gSn12kO
That's right. Been at Sungard for 23 years. Been lucky to have managers that care and have been very honest with me every time rough waters were ahead. I in turn treat them with respect and they've earned my loyalty. I know others have not been as lucky. Why am I still at Sungard, well, thankfully we are a 2 income household - if my number comes up in the coming weeks we should be ok and the market is full of opportunities...
Wishing everyone luck in the coming weeks ahead, we should all have some idea by then of Sungard's fate...and ours - It's been a he-l of a ride...
@1fza+1gSn12kO - Don't tar everyone with the same brush!
@1yqy That matches the integrity level I'd expect from anyone still there at this point.
Few workplace colleagues were already given notice. RS sites going under.
There’s always possibilities of layoffs at sungard … in my 15 years there there were multiple layoffs every year ,… including the famous christmas eve layoffs ….
Sungardas is truly the most pathetic company currently in existence
Why would u leave at this point?
I would double dip and work a new job while doing absolutely nothing at my SG job
The biggest factor for potential (even mass) layoffs is if for some reason whoever bids for (in July) and buys the company (if anyone does, all or parts of it) decides not to take on all or any of Sungard's employees.
The way it's going, it will be a skeleton crew by then anyway with the accelerated attrition rate with all the voluntary departures.
They’ve laid off so many people that it’s already hard to operate
This is very true. We're rapidly running out of people. There won't be anyone left to layoff soon.
Don’t think there will be layoffs for 3 reasons
- Its problematic to layoff people during a bankruptcy without having bankruptcy court’s consent
- They’ve laid off so many people that it’s already hard to operate
- With a bidding process in July, anything detrimental that could affect the bids would be avoided
At least that’s what I’ve heard
No layoffs period. I think SGAS is doing just fine. My 2 cents.
