Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Burnout or just entitlement mentality

I have a team member who has become so unreliable I have stopped wanting to even include them in any new projects. They volunteer to do work but constantly drop the ball. Corporate has been talking a lot about burnout which could be a contributing factor but in my experience that comes from doing to much. This person definitely is not in that category. How do I talk to my coworker about their performance without having to go to my boss. Or should i just go to boss? It is impacting my work now and my ability to finish projects because I am reliant upon them to get their own work done. I know this is a layoff site but others seem to be posting lots of personal complaints on here of late so I thought, why not ask others opinion. They have become that team member who is doing the bare minimum but do not realize they are pi----g off others on the team. Maybe they are pi---d off themselves and it is causing burnout and they do not realize it is impacting people who have done nothing to them. Either way, when someone starts to cause me to not be able to complete my work so I can have a moment of peace, I need to say or do something. Generally in the past, my bosses have noticed and spoke to them before it has gotten to this point. My current boss does not seem to be as aware. Just need other opinion before I proceed.

So rather than spend a moment of your time, which clearly this person has no respect for, give the issue to the manager It is their job, not yours to ensure the work is getting done. Approach the subject with the boss about you, point out how you are not able to complete xyz and that you are waiting on insertbademployeename. Then list other items you are waiting for other person on. Always keep conversatjon about yourself and your work. Unless they are the worst manager in the world, they will notice the pattern and handle the issue.

Throw them under the bus. Dont let them take a free ride on your work.

Entitled mentality in the work place is the craziest thing I have ever heard of. The leadership sets up the expectations. I couldn't imagine someone applying for a job and then not want to do it. Again, expectations are set by the companies leadership. I can see how an employee would get " burnout " when there's a lack of leaderships, lack of communication, expectations are not clear, leadership going back on what they tell the employee they're suppose to do and over all mismanagement. I think there's more to your situation then what you're portraying.

"Hey I've noticed you've been dropping the ball on stuff when you didn't used to. How are you doing?"

It's not hard to ask someone if they're okay. I would look into leadership training if this is difficult for you.

If you have to come here and ask an opinion about how you should proceed and take action then maybe you shouldn't be in that role. A good leader would know what to do.
