We had a candidate tell us that his contract was terminated due Change no longer focusing on interoperability. We're trying to confirm the validity of this change in strategy/termination.

They canned an interop product and the development team associated with it? We will probably see more of that now that senior management anticipates recession ahead. I would expect to see hiring decrease, employee efficiency increase, and some resource reshuffling to occur. Unfortunately this comes at a time when the cost of everything is soaring, purchasing power had plummeted, and compensation increases lag far behind inflation. Perhaps the only solution is for us to cutback on expenses as the company cuts back on us through lower inflation adjusted wage increases.
He shared that "they terminated his contract last month and laid off his team. he said Change was “going in a different direction” and no longer focusing on the interoperability product." So it sounds the whole team is gone but usually there's some noise around entire strategy shifts (vs a temp to hire situation)
Was this a temp to hire situation? That seems strange.
